Words for the taking
I had this vain hope
that these words might take you
through the blue sky comfort of your easy days
into a Bunnings of the mind
where new thoughts are for the taking
from the shelves of this existence.
Where we could sort of share
the expansion of our living space
and build a kind of new dimension
in mutual creativity.
But you just waited patiently
like some gifted Goddess
gilded in the solvency
of a total self-sufficiency.
And when my words finally reached
the checkout of your existence
you paused a moment and with a sigh
accepted the proffered card
before wrapping everything up neatly
while asking if I wanted credit.

Bunnings ... a mega hardware store well known in Australia
First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask
ReplyDeleteif you don't mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.
I've had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Cheers!

If you have something on your mind and want to refocus on your writing try some physical exercise before you start ... you need a balance between the mental and the physical ... if you are into running go for a jog ... I always used to go for a jog at lunchtimes when I was working ... a great way to wipe the whiteboard clean for the afternoon ... enjoy your writing and your exercise!
